Downtown Blue Ridge on a Tuesday, Hour by Hour

October 15, 2026

Where do you get eggs Benedict downtown on a Tuesday morning in October? You don't get it at The Pullman. On October 1, 2026, the all-day eatery at 657 East Main Street moved to 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday through Monday. It is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Rose's Smash House, farther down the same street at 588 East Main Street, is also closed both days.

That could make midweek downtown look like a lost cause. It isn't. Downtown Blue Ridge restaurants close on different days, so on a Tuesday the town stays fed from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Only the open doors change from hour to hour. Once leaf-season weekends wind down, what you need is a schedule.

The Tuesday Timeline

Here are the posted Tuesday and Wednesday hours for downtown kitchens, cafés and one taproom, sorted by opening time.

Opens Place Address Tue & Wed hours
7:30 a.m. Mountain Mama's Coffee Lounge 771 E Main St, Suite A 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
8 a.m. Copper Fox Coffee Café 252 W Main St 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
10 a.m. Rum Cake Lady 205 W First St 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
11 a.m. Harvest on Main 576 E Main St 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
11 a.m. Chester Brunnenmeyer's 733 E Main St 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
11 a.m. Twisted Tomato 11 Mountain St 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then 4 to 8 p.m.
Noon Grumpy Old Men Brewing 1315 E Main St Noon to 6 p.m.
3 p.m. The Black Sheep Downtown Bar from 3 p.m., dinner 4 to 9 p.m.
4 p.m. Ferraro's Kitchen 322 W Main St 4 to 9 p.m.

These are the hours each place posts. Some pages haven't been updated in a while. Harvest on Main's contact page dates to 2024 and The Black Sheep's homepage to late 2025. Harvest also asks guests to call about special holiday and seasonal hours. Call ahead before you plan an evening around any of them, especially once winter sets in.

Morning: Coffee Fills In for The Pullman

Losing The Pullman for two days is a real gap. Bill and Kristie Crow, the husband-and-wife team behind it, built an all-day menu around eggs Benedict, French toast, short rib hash, and shrimp and grits. During Blue Ridge Restaurant Week, the Benedict was listed on homemade organic sourdough with ham, poached egg, hollandaise and breakfast potatoes. No one else downtown posts that menu on a Tuesday.

What you can get Tuesday morning is coffee, and it starts earlier. Mountain Mama's Coffee Lounge is listed as open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., farther up East Main at No. 771. On the west end, Copper Fox Coffee Café at 252 West Main posts 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday. The bookstore describes itself as across from the Scenic Railway depot. That puts a coffee counter at each end of Main Street before The Pullman would normally open.

The new hours matter on The Pullman's open days too. The restaurant used to post 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and now opens an hour earlier. Older directory listings may still show the old times. The Pullman's own site has the current schedule and a waitlist you can join before you arrive. Seating is first come, first served.

Midday: Harvest on Main Covers for Rose's

Rose's Smash House serves Georgia Wagyu smash burgers from a husband-and-wife kitchen. Its posted week starts Thursday at 11 a.m., and it opens Monday too, then closes Tuesday and Wednesday. Apple Maps shows the same schedule.

Midweek lunch coverage on that block comes from almost next door. Harvest on Main, at 576 East Main, posts Tuesday and Wednesday hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A September 2026 Blue Ridge Community roundup describes it as still sourcing seasonal ingredients from local farms.

Three more places open by 11 a.m.:

  • Chester Brunnenmeyer's, 733 East Main, posts 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. It is the steadiest schedule downtown.
  • Twisted Tomato, 11 Mountain Street, serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, closes for an hour, and reopens from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Rum Cake Lady, 205 West First Street, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The same local roundup notes it still presses Cuban sandwiches and ships rum cakes nationwide.

Afternoon: The 3 O'Clock Handoff

Around 3 p.m., the morning places close and the evening places start to open. Mountain Mama's closes at 3:30 p.m. and Twisted Tomato pauses at 3. Several places keep going through that hour: Copper Fox until 5, Rum Cake Lady until 5, and Harvest and Chester's straight through.

If you'd rather end the afternoon with a pint, Grumpy Old Men Brewing posts Tuesday and Wednesday taproom hours of noon to 6 p.m. at 1315 East Main. The brewery puts it at a 0.6-mile walk south of downtown. Its patio snack shack closes for January and February, so the food part of a taproom afternoon depends on the season.

The Black Sheep's bar opens at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, an hour before dinner service.

Evening: Monday Has Its Own Gaps

Downtown dinner is fully covered on a Tuesday. The Black Sheep serves dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Ferraro's Kitchen, Chef and Owner Igor Ferraro's Italian dining room at 322 West Main, posts 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Its posted menu includes Spaghetti Cacio & Pepe at $25, Ravioli Sorrento and Paccheri alla Mediterranea at $26 each, and a Venetian Tiramisù at $12. Ferraro's lists its suite as 2A, and the visitors bureau's directory lists it as Suite A. Both point to the same West Main address. A September 2026 roundup counted Ferraro's among the year's new arrivals. A Blue Ridge tourism blog had already included it among the town's restaurants in March 2023.

Harvest on Main and Twisted Tomato both post an 8 p.m. close on Tuesday and Wednesday. Chester's, The Black Sheep and Ferraro's run until 9.

Monday has different gaps. The Black Sheep posts Monday dinner as closed. The two East Main spots that are dark midweek are both open Monday: The Pullman from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Rose's from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ferraro's and Chester's are open both days. No single weekday closes all of downtown. Each day just closes a different set of doors.

Plans That Work on Tuesday and Wednesday

Here are a few routes that line up with the posted hours:

  1. Coffee at the depot end, lunch on East Main. Start at Copper Fox at 8 a.m., then walk to Harvest on Main or Chester's when they open at 11.
  2. Lunch, then a taproom afternoon. Have lunch at Twisted Tomato on Mountain Street before its 3 p.m. pause, then walk 0.6 miles south to Grumpy Old Men's taproom before it closes at 6.
  3. The late dinner. Ferraro's, The Black Sheep and Chester's all serve until 9 p.m., the latest Tuesday close downtown.
  4. Thursday breakfast. The Pullman reopens Thursday at 8 a.m. It also offers group brunch experiences at $55 and $69 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
